More Details

There are many places to visit and things to do and see in the local area.

The New Forest is a wonderful place to explore, with its wide variety of landscapes and wildlife. Watch out for the ponies and cows wandering along the roads.

The cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester are only 1/2 hour drives away, and just beyond Salisbury is Stonehenge. It is also only 4 miles to the old market town of Romsey, with its magnificent Norman Abbey, and Broadlands, the family home of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten.

For the shopaholics, what better than the new West Quay development in Southampton. Those with an interest in the sea and maritime history will find plenty of interest in Southampton and Portsmouth. Other popular places to visit include The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and, only a mile away from them is the theme park Paultons, a must for most holiday-makers, especially those with children.

For something different how about a day trip to the Isle of Wight?

Activities Include:
Walking: either walk the footpaths from the site,or take the car into the forest and follow one of the walks from the many books available. The Test Way is a beautiful walk following the river Test.
Swimming pools in Totton and Romsey
Golf at Paultons golf centre, 1 mile away
Horse riding from one of the riding stables in the New Forest
Fishing: coarse fishing 2 miles, and trout fishing 4 miles
Cycling along the cycle tracks in the forest. If you haven't brought your bicycles, there are cycle hire shops in Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.

There is a wide variety of eating places, ranging from Mcdonalds to The Empress of Blandings restaurant. If you prefer to walk, the local pub, the Compass, only takes about 20 minutes.
