SITE INFORMATION

Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site in Scotland, is on the edge of Britain’s largest forest park, and is the perfect base from which to explore more than 300 square miles of stunning wilderness.

The site itself is a small tranquil haven that the site nicknamed ‘Expedition Base Camp’ because of its proximity to the coast-to-coast Southern Upland Way, the foot of Merrick – the highest peak in the Galloway Hills at 2,766 ft - two of the world-renowned 7Stanes Mountain Biking Trails, RSPB Wood of Cree Reserve and so much more.

As one of the best areas on the planet for stargazing, the Galloway Forest Park is also the UK’s first official Dark Skies Park.

With hundreds of square miles of stunning landscape, surrounded by a huge variety of wildlife, Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site is the ideal place to pitch your tent or park up your caravan and escape from the stresses and strains of modern living for a truly relaxing and memorable break away from it all.

14 extra large, individual, hardstanding touring pitches – all with electric hook-up.

Informal tent area with 8 electric hook-ups available (N.B. No vehicles are permitted on the tent area).

Small basic shop on site. Open 9-10.30am and 1-6pm daily.

Motor home service point.

Bike, boot and dog wash point.

Showers and hot water included in pitch fee.

No extra charge for awnings or dogs.

Laundry facilities.

Our own (very popular) Bothy - basically a summer cabin for people to use, but not for overnight accommodation.

House o' Hill Hotel and excellent restaurant only 8 minutes' walk from the site.

Glentrool Visitor Centre and Cafe within 1.5 miles.

Free WiFi (The WiFi signal is only suitable for general browsing and emails, and is not strong enough for streaming, gaming or catch up TV etc).

The site us a septic tank so please use organic or green chemical toilet fluid.
