Tarnside is perfectly situated for tourists to enjoy a peaceful holiday away from it all. Beachcombing on the west coast, fishing in the tarn or exploring the Western Lakes & Fells - guests are sure to enjoy their holiday.

Whether you take your own tent, tourer or motorhome, or hire one of their plush, fully equipped holidy caravans, the Park's location, surroundings and facilities will all contribute to an enjoyable and memorable stay.

Tarnside has a fully licenced Caravan Club with bar, pool table and Sky TV. Children are welcome in the club with parents. There is a small outdoor play area adjoining the club.

They have a large area set aside to accommodate campers, touring caravans & motor homes. Tourer & Motor Home pitches are available in hard standing only (no awnings), & grass standing for vans with awnings. All touring pitches have water & electric (10amp) hook ups, which is included in the price. There is no additional charge for an awning.

Tarnside Park has a well-equipped wash and laundry facility including hot showers, basins, hair dryers and baby-changing facilities, as well as an automatic washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. The shower block has been recently refurbished and caters for disabled users.

Dogs are welcome on the Park, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

Tarnside Park is uniquely situated by the beach, with it's very own fresh water tarn. Ideal for both coarse & sea fishing. With Wasdale valley just a short drive away, which boasts Englands highest mountain (Scawfell Pike), deepest lake (Wastwater), and smallest church, the park offers a wealth of opportunities for quiet country and mountain walks in some of Cumbria's most stunning countryside.

A few miles to the south can be found Ravenglass, whose miniature railway transports passengers into the heart of Eskdale and through some truly captivating scenery. Nearby is Muncaster Castle with its beautiful gardens and enthralling Owl centre.

The West Cumbrian coastal villages of Drigg & Seascale with their lovely beaches are only minutes away.

There is also an exciting variety of specialist visitor attractions in the area, many designed with families especially in mind. Eight miles to the north is the historic port of Whitehaven. This captivating town was once the third largest port in England, having built its fortunes on the Rum trade with the West Indies and the slave trade with America. This intriguing history is explored and brought thrillingly to life at the Beacon and the Rum Story visitor attractions.

The nearest village to the park is Beckermet (a half mile) which has a small shop and several pubs.

The potential for outdoor recreation is enormous, with such activities as walking, cycling, pony-trekking, climbing, and watersports only the most obvious of many you may wish to try. Their location provides you with an ideal base from which to explore and enjoy the Western Lakes and Fells, including Ennerdale Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere, Scafell Pike and Great Gable.
